If Design Award 2019 – and the winner is…

We’ve always known that ALBATROS products are leading the way in terms of their design, functionality, comfort and safety. And this has now been emphatically confirmed by an independent jury of 67 international design experts, who were impressed by two ALBATROS safety shoe designs. The members of the jury awarded the coveted prize in Hamburg after receiving 6,375 submissions from 52 different countries.

”We’re delighted to announce that the ULTRATRAIL OLIVE CTX MID and ULTIMATE IMPULSE OLIVE LOW models have won the IF DESIGN AWARD 2019”, states Christian Güse, Head of Marketing at ISM. “ALBATROS has now joined the list of premium brands that have been presented with the world-renowned design award, such as Porsche, Hilti and Nike”. Our high-performance safety shoes won the award in the “product” discipline of the “industry / tools” category. “Winning this award is an extraordinary honour that rewards us for all the work and passion we put into our products”, continues Güse.

The iF Design Award is presented once a year by iF International Forum Design GmbH, the world’s oldest independent design institution in Hanover. It’s one of the most important honours in the world of design, recognising outstanding achievements in all disciplines: product, packaging, communication and service design / UX; architecture; interior design; and professional concepts. The winning products will be presented in the IF DESIGN GUIDE, the IF DESIGN APP and at the IF DESIGN EXHIBITION in Hamburg from 4 May to 2 June 2019.

The ULTIMATE IMPULSE OLIVE LOW impressed the jury with its innovative  ELASTIC FIT collar band, its slip-on design with extravagant lacing and the SAFETY KNIT upper material, a highly flexible and breathable fabric developed by ISM.
Our ELASTIC FIT technology is a knitted elastic collar made of extremely stretchable textile fibres that fit the wearer’s leg like a sock, ensuring maximum freedom of movement, ultimate comfort and optimum protection against dust, dirt and small parts.

The ULTRATRAIL OLIVE CTX MID, featuring a waterproof and breathable COA.TEX^® membrane, stood out for its clear design made of the finest smooth full leather. It combines all the essential features to guarantee optimum safety for indoor and outdoor projects.

Both models feature an IMPULSE.FOAM^® midsole, allowing up to 55% of the energy generated with every step to be recycled back to the body and ensuring maximum cushioning, outstanding stability and long-lasting comfort.
